What you'll need on the server

Modest requirements — Makulli runs comfortably on a single 4 GB VPS.

Server

  • Linux: Ubuntu 22.04+, Rocky/AlmaLinux 8/9, Debian 12+
  • 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
  • 20 GB disk minimum (50 GB recommended)
  • Root or sudo access

Software stack

  • PHP 8.3 or 8.4 with standard extensions (mbstring, xml, mysql, gd, intl, zip)
  • MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.6+
  • Apache 2.4 or Nginx
  • Composer 2.x

Email

  • Outbound SMTP server or Resend API key
  • SPF + DKIM records on your sending domain

What we don't cover

Transparency builds trust. Here's what's outside the license.

Hosting infrastructure — You arrange your own server. We can recommend providers (DigitalOcean, Hetzner, AWS Lightsail) but we don't operate it.

DNS, SSL, or domain management — Standard infrastructure tasks for your IT team. The install guide covers what's needed.

Resale rights — The license is for your own use or under one white-label brand. You cannot resell the software itself as a product.

Support for your modifications — You can modify the source for your own use, but support and updates apply only to the unmodified codebase.

Refunds — Once source is delivered, the license is final. We offer a free pre-sale technical brief call to confirm fit before purchase.

Multiple production deployments — Each production deployment requires its own license. Staging and development environments are unlimited.

Premium adds three things on top of Standard: white-glove installation (we deploy on your server), custom branding service (we apply your logo, colors, and copy to emails and PDFs), and 24 months of source updates instead of 12. The $1,000 premium effectively buys you the cost of installation + branding services purchased separately.
Yes — for your own use. Any modifications you make are yours to keep, but they can't be resold or redistributed. Support and updates apply to the unmodified codebase; if you need a custom change maintained over time, our custom-development service can build it into the upstream code.
You keep what you have — there's no expiry on the codebase you've received. To continue receiving new releases and security patches after the included window (12 or 24 months), renew at 50% of the original license price per year. Renewals are optional; the software keeps working either way.
Not as a standalone product. The license covers your own use OR offering the software under a single white-label brand of your own. You cannot list Makulli (under our name or yours) on marketplaces, resell licenses, or transfer the source to a third party. If you want explicit reseller rights, contact us about a custom reseller arrangement.
No. Once the source code is delivered, the license is final — there's no practical way to take it back. To make sure it's the right fit before purchase, we offer a free pre-sale technical brief call: we walk through your server, your goals, and the install steps. If something won't work, we'd rather both find out beforehand.
Through a private Git repository. You'll receive read access to the release branch with semantically versioned tags and changelogs. Pull when you want to update — we don't push changes to your deployment. The install guide includes a step-by-step update procedure.
Yes. The codebase already supports per-organization Stripe credentials — every org you create within your deployment can configure its own Stripe API keys, so funds settle to the right account. If you don't need online payments, Stripe is optional and the rest of the system works fine without it.
We offer custom development at $150 per hour, with a fixed quote provided after a scoping call. If the feature is broadly useful, it may be folded into the upstream product (so you get future updates that include it for free).
Each production deployment requires its own license. Staging and development environments don't count — spin up as many as you need for testing. If you're operating multiple branded instances for multiple customers, contact us about volume licensing.
Yes. Existing SaaS customers can purchase a White Label license and we'll export your data so you can import it into your self-hosted deployment. The data-migration service covers the export, transformation, and import — typically a half-day of work for a single-organization migration.
